Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus is backing Bayern Munich to come up good in tonight’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich play host to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final clash at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night.

Matthaus has claimed that Real Madrid were lucky to go through against Manchester City.

“Bayern are the slight favourites [against Real Madrid]. Real were lucky to beat the best team in the world [Manchester City],” Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has told Sky.

“I’ve heard that the mood in the Bayern’s locker room is better than it’s been for a long time. Tuchel and the players love each other. It wasn’t always like this.”

However, Bayern star Joshua Kimmich has rather claimed that it has nothing to do with luck, but Real Madrid have experience in the Champions League.

Joshua Kimmich said: “Sometimes, Real Madrid are not the best team over two legs but they still go through. It’s more than luck.

“They have experience and confidence in their virtues. They know that they are capable of scoring until the very last minute and to beat anyone.”
