Carlo Ancelotti has revealed a new tactical switch he has come up with that has helped Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr.
Instead of playing Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo as a pair up front, Ancelotti has decided to place Rodrygo on the left, while Vinicius operates in a more central position.
This tactical switch has paid off lately, as Rodrygo has scored four goals in his last five appearances for Real Madrid, while Vinicius Jr has three in his last three matches.
Carlo Ancelotti has however insisted that it’s not a defensive system.
Ancelotti addressed the media recently, explaining: “We put Rodrygo on the left and Vinicius on the right. Rodrygo scored against City and Vinicius against Bayern. It went very well, we have to adjust things. In general, in the defensive aspect, against Bayern, we have to improve.
“Placing Rodrygo on the left wing is offensive, not defensive. It was only to try to create more damage to the rival defence. It is not a definitive decision, it can change. He is effective in all the positions in which I put him. To me, it doesn’t change much.”
