Real Madrid defeated Bayern 2-1 in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, but the game had a bit of controversy.
Real Madrid came from a goal down to win the game 2-1, with two very late goals from Joselu.
Matthijs de Ligt scored in the final minutes of stoppage time, what he thought was an equaliser, but it was ruled out.
The linesman raised his flag before the defender played the ball — and referee blew the whistle to signal offside.
Replays showed that he may not have been offside, and Bayern were understandably furious with the referee’s decision.
Carlo Ancelotti said after the Champions League game: “The offside episode is simple to explain. Maybe it wasn’t offside, but the referee whistled (before the goal) and we stop playing. This is it.
“Bayern complained about the offside? Ok, so we complain about the cancelled goal of Nacho… because Kimmich dived.”
Real Madrid had a goal disallowed in the 69th minute as VAR review claimed Nacho fouled Joshua Kimmich leading to the goal.
