Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, has admitted it’s difficult to compete against Real Madrid, who are the best club in the world.

On the eve of his side’s final league match against Real Sociedad, Simeone said they fell short of their objectives this season, admitting that it’s difficult to compete with the title winners Real Madrid, who are the best team in the world.

Atletico, will finish fourth in the La Liga standings behind Real Madrid, runners-up Barcelona and surprise package Girona. Simeone however believes they could have done better.

Simeone told a press conference on Thursday: “We have the responsibility to get into the Champions League every year.

“You can be left out, but you can also be champion, yet with Real Madrid, who are the best team in the world and will continue to be because they have rejuvenated the squad, it is not easy.

“We have to keep working at 120% because 100% is not enough and 80% is even less to be able to get closer to them, keeping in mind that those below us are also improving.”
