Toni Kroos was filled with emotions after playing his last game at the Santiago Bernabeu as a Real Madrid player in the 0-0 draw against Real Betis.

Kroos had announced he’d be retiring from football at the end of the season.

The German international was given a farewell after the Betis game, and Toni Kroos broke down in emotions after seeing his children cry following the kind of response their father got from the Santiago Bernabeu faithful.

For Kroos, the final step is to win the Champions League next weekend.

Speaking to club media after the game, he remarked: “It’s not easy to say something now. I can only say thank you to all my Real Madrid fans, to the entire club, to my teammates. These have been 10 unforgettable years.

“It’s a special team, it’s a great group. They are not just good players but they are all good people. I’m emotionally strong but my kids’ reaction destroyed me. The best way to retire is to win the Champions League.”
