Brazil have been surprisingly eliminated from the Copa America in the quarter-final stage.

Brazil crashed out of the Copa America on Sunday, after a penalty shootout loss to Uruguay in the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr didn’t play the quarter-finals, and had to watch the defeat from the stands due to a suspension.

Vinicius Jr has taken to social media following Brazil’s elimination, and believes he’s at fault.

He wrote on Instagram: “The end of Copa America is a time for reflection and learning to handle defeat. The feeling of frustration takes over once again. Again, we lost on penalties.

“I failed you by receiving two avoidable yellow cards. Once again, I watched our elimination from the sidelines. But this time, it’s all my fault. I apologize for that. I can take criticism, and believe me, the harshest ones come from home.

“Fortunately, my journey with the national team is just beginning. Alongside my teammates, I will have the chance to restore our Seleção to its rightful place. WE WILL RETURN TO THE TOP! I LOVE YOU ALL AND WE’LL DO IT TOGETHER!”
