Germany crashed out of the Euro 2024 last week, after a 2-1 defeat to Spain late in extra time.

Toni Kroos had hopes of ending his career with one last trophy, after returning to the Germany national team.

Toni Kroos who’s known for keeping his emotions in check, was distraught after losing to Spain.

In his podcast, Einfach mal Luppen, Kroos revealed he had only ever felt such pain after losing to Chelsea in the Champions League final in 2012.

He said: “I felt a very big void after losing against Spain. Something that hasn’t happened to me since 2012 [when Bayern lost a Champions League final v Chelsea on penalties]. The dream of a title at home was shattered with the defeat.

“I felt physically bad for the next two days. It’s amazing how the mind controls the body, right?

“If we had progressed, we would have played France in the Euro semi-finals and I would have been in top form. But I couldn’t take a step the last two days, everything hurt from top to bottom.”
