Real Madrid started their Champions League defence with a 3-1 win over Stuttgart.

It was a hard-fought encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu, and one of the stars of the game was Antonio Rudiger.

Rudiger was rugged at the back, and also scored the second goal for Madrid, which was crucial in the victory.

Reflecting on his performance after the game, Rudiger stated: “Playing for Madrid is an honour.. Even if I have to play for Real Madrid with one leg, I will.”

Rudiger was awarded a penalty in the first-half, which was ruled out after a VAR check.

Rudiger admitted afterwards that Real Madrid didn’t deserve a penalty after he went down in the box in the first half, claiming: “No it wasn’t a penalty. He touched me a bit but it’s not a penalty.”
