Real Madrid thrashed Espanyol 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu after going behind in the second-half.

Dani Carvajal scored the leveller, as the superstar trio of Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe all got on the scoresheet.

Speaking after the game, veteran midfielder Luka Modric singled out Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Kylian Mbappe for praise.

Modric went on to hail the team’s persistence and adaptability as reason for the victory over Espanyol.

“We played well in the first half, but we struggled to score that goal,” Modric said.

“We moved the ball very quickly in the second half and did not give up, this is why we won.”
