Real were given a shocking beating away to Lille in the Champions League clash on Tuesday night.

Real Madrid suffered their first defeat in the Champions League since May 2023 as Lille won 1-0.

It was a shocking display from Carlo Ancelotti’s men, as Real looked off the pace, especially in the first-half.

Speaking after the game, Carlo Ancelotti admitted his team was poor and deserved to lose the game against Lille.

Carlo Ancelotti told the media after the Lille defeat: “Lille were better and deserved to win. We could draw at the end but it wouldn’t have been deserved.

“It’s difficult to analyse this game. We were bad under every aspect.

“We didn’t create, the possession was slow, no ideas. Our forwards need a more vertical game. This could be a problem when you’re slow.

“This was a bad game. We showed a bad image and bad feelings.

“No excuses, we were bad. We must improve.”

The defeat also brought an end to Real Madrid’s 36-game unbeaten run in all competitions stretching from last season.
