Real Madrid lost another top player, as Eder Militao went off injured against Osasuna.

Eder Militao has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

Real Madrid are short of options in defence, but Carlo Ancelotti has vowed to look inside to solve the team’s problems.

Speaking on his options in defence, Carlo Ancelotti hailed the impact of Raul Asencio who replaced Militao, and believes the young defender can continue in that stead.

“We have to thank Raul. He’s very important to us,” Ancelotti said.

“Asencio played very well with personality, with an assist. He is a player that we need.”

Revealing other options, Ancelotti said: “Another good centre-back is Jacobo but he’s injured. Raúl Asencio will stay with us now.

Ancelotti had to deploy Federico Valverde in right-back against Osasuna, as Madrid do not have a backup in this position.

“We are evaluating the right-back position,” Ancelotti said.

“Valverde played right-back today, which I think is good… this is what we have.”

“There are Fortea, Loren and Melvin. They’re not ready yet but they can help like Asencio today.”

Ancelotti will have to play some players out of position to solve the team’s injury problems, and the Italian isn’t looking at new signings yet.

“I don’t think about signing players now. We have these players until at least Christmas. This is what we have,” Ancelotti said.
