Real Madrid weren’t at their best against Athletic Club, and suffered yet another defeat, losing 2-1 away at Bilbao.

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, has apologised to Real Madrid fans after the loss to Athletic Club, and has admitted his mistake cost the team points.

“Today has been a hard hit, but I take the blame,” Valverde stated in a social media post.

“I know it’s football, and things can happen, but they’re not strangers to me, and I didn’t want to stop expressing myself for the mistake I made.”

Kylian Mbappe who missed a penalty and a couple of chances, also issued an apology.

“Bad result. A big mistake in a match where every detail counts. I take full responsibility for it. A difficult moment but it’s the best time to change this situation and show who l am,” Kylian Mbappe wrote on Instagram.
