Carlo Ancelotti has offered an honest assessment of Real Madrid’s inconsistent form this season, attributing the struggles to an unfortunate injury crisis that has sidelined several key players.

Following the 3-3 draw against Rayo Vallecano, Ancelotti outlined the challenges his team has faced and expressed optimism for the future.

Ancelotti emphasised that the return of his injured stars will significantly boost the team’s performance levels.

Speaking after Madrid’s 3-3 draw at Rayo, Ancelotti said: “When all the injured players are back, the team will be much better.

“We have started without many starters: Mbappé, Vini, Camavinga, Alaba, Militao, Carvajal and Mendy. 7 in total.

“Tonight’s draw is not as bad as the one against Las Palmas, or the one against Mallorca. This one was better.

“I have high hopes for 2025, but we need to first finish this year very well.”
