Real Madrid are set to play the Intercontinental Cup final, where the Los Blancos will face Mexican club Pachuca.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti has shared his thoughts ahead of the final.

Ancelotti has vowed to win the Cup, but admitted they won’t take Pachuca for granted following their massive 3-0 victory over Brazilian side Botafogo.

Ancelotti said: “Playing in the Intercontinental Cup final means you’ve had a very good previous season. It’s one of the most important events.

“When you start the season, you want to be there, you want to play in the final. We were fortunate, and we had the right mindset and commitment to fight for it. We will definitely try to win it.

“Pachuca’s victory over Botafogo (3-0) was a surprise, and they proved to be a very strong team. I think many people thought the final would be between Botafogo and Real, but Pachuca showed they will be a tough opponent.

“Finals are always different. Their playing styles are sometimes the opposite of European football. Sometimes the intensity is different, sometimes they are more physical, or there is a difference in determination or tactics. That’s why it’s always a pleasure to play in these kinds of matches. I think it will be a great final.

“We must finish the previous season well, as it was very successful for us and the club. Obviously, it’s also very important for the club to win another international club tournament because we have many fans all around the world, and they would love for us to lift this trophy.”
