Vinicius Jr found himself at the centre of a heated confrontation following Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Mallorca in the Super Cup semi-final on Thursday.

The Brazil international, who has been engaged in a long-standing feud with Mallorca right-back Pablo Maffeo, was physically restrained as tensions flared after the final whistle.

The rivalry between Vinicius and Maffeo has been simmering for some time, with the Mallorca defender previously making bold comments about knocking Vinicius out in “ten seconds” if they ever clashed on the pitch.

The animosity came to a head just minutes into Thursday’s match when Maffeo pushed Vinicius, leading to a slap from the Madrid forward that sent Maffeo tumbling theatrically to the ground.

As the drama unfolded, cameras caught Vinicius calling Maffeo “terrible” while expressing his intent to help Madrid knock Mallorca out of the competition. The Brazilian was subsequently penalised for a series of fouls on Maffeo, who appeared to play up the situation.

The tension on the field didn’t subside, with Jude Bellingham giving Madrid the lead just after the hour mark. Vinicius, who had been a central figure in the match, was substituted with two minutes left. Soon after, an own goal and a 95th-minute strike from Rodrygo sealed the win for Madrid.

However, Maffeo’s reaction to the third goal sparked an altercation, drawing in Bellingham and centre-back Raul Asencio, which ultimately led to a massive brawl on the pitch. Vinicius, still fired up, tried to join the fray after the final whistle. In a dramatic moment captured on camera, the Brazilian was physically restrained and dragged down the tunnel, as he attempted to confront Mallorca’s players once again.
