Vinicius Jr. has revealed that he remains in constant contact with Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema, who continues to offer him words of encouragement even after leaving the club.
“Karim Benzema is a legend. He always messages me, telling me to keep going and to keep scoring more,” Vinicius told Real Madrid TV.
Benzema, who is the second-highest goalscorer in Real Madrid’s history with 354 goals, clearly sees great potential in Vinicius and wants to see him thrive. The Brazilian forward recently reached a significant milestone, netting his 100th goal for Los Blancos, but he knows he has a long way to go if he hopes to match the achievements of someone like Benzema.
After serving a suspension that kept him out of both La Liga and Champions League action, Vinicius is now back in the fold and eager to make an impact for Madrid once again.
The 24-year-old also took a moment to express his deep admiration for another Real Madrid icon—Raul.
He said: “Raul scored 323 goals and is third on the list of top scorers in Real Madrid’s history. He is a legend not only of the club but also of Spanish football.
“He had a magnificent career at Real. He is here, always watching us, and tells me what I can improve.
“I hope I can score more goals and get closer to the legend – that would be incredible.”
Currently, Vinicius sits 21st on Real Madrid’s all-time goalscoring list with 101 goals. If he maintains his trajectory, he could eventually challenge some of the club’s legendary figures. With advice from both Benzema and Raul, the Brazilian forward is determined to continue his rise at the Santiago Bernabéu.
