Real Madrid have already initiated talks with Vinicius Junior’s representatives over a new contract, with negotiations progressing steadily, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The club held direct discussions with the player’s entourage in January, and while both meetings were positive, there is no rush to finalise the deal. Vinicius and his camp are prepared for extensive negotiations to ensure all details are ironed out properly. The Brazilian remains fully committed to Real Madrid and wants to continue competing at the highest level for all major trophies.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Pro League continues to monitor Vinicius Jr.’s situation closely. Saudi clubs view him as the ideal marquee signing to elevate the league’s global status ahead of the 2034 World Cup, which will be hosted in Saudi Arabia. Their interest is not new—clubs have been exploring what it would take to lure him away from Madrid since last summer. Reports indicate that offers reaching €1 billion over five years are “not far from reality,” according to Romano.

Real Madrid are well aware of Saudi Arabia’s financial power and consider their pursuit of Vinicius Jr. a serious threat. The club remains determined to secure his long-term future and will not take any chances with one of their key players.

Despite his willingness to stay, negotiations could become complicated due to salary demands. According to Cadena SER’s Tono Garcia, Vinicius wants to earn €25 million net per year—significantly more than both Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, who are on €15 million each. Real Madrid, however, rejected these demands in their initial discussions and are expected to propose a counteroffer in the coming weeks.

Cadena SER’s Antonio Romero reports that the club has no intention of making Vinicius the highest-paid player in the squad. With Mbappe’s arrival, the club maintains a strict wage structure and will not offer the Brazilian a salary that exceeds that of the French superstar.

As negotiations continue, the focus remains on securing Vinicius’ future at the Santiago Bernabeu while fending off growing interest from Saudi Arabia.
