With the scores just 1-0, there was an incident that happened late in the game between Barcelona and Las Palmas.

There was a VAR check for a possible penalty, and after a somewhat lengthy check, the referee didn’t give the hosts a penalty, much to their frustration.

Las Palmas were denied what looked like a clear penalty late in their game against Barcelona.

If that penalty was given, Las Palmas would’ve equalised with 5 minutes to go on the clock. The referee instead ruled for offside in the buildup to the handball.

Barcelona eventually went on to win 2-0.

Reacting to the controversial penalty incident, Barcelona defender Eric Garcia said: “We don’t understand why the referee reviews the play in the VAR if there is an offside before.”
