Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has shed light on his decision to name Vinicius Junior as captain for the match against Real Sociedad.

The Brazilian forward took on the armband in a significant moment, highlighting his growing influence within the squad.

Speaking about the decision, Ancelotti said:

“The captains are elected. He has been given more responsibility. And he has been a real captain. Everyone appreciated him.”

Vinicius has been a key figure in Real Madrid’s attacking setup, and his leadership qualities have not gone unnoticed.

Ancelotti further emphasised how his efforts have positively impacted the team’s overall structure.

He said: “Vinicius is helping a lot. It has changed the team a lot, because the forwards are working hard. The team is more solid.”

Despite his leadership role, Ancelotti made it clear that Vinicius will continue to play in his natural attacking position rather than dropping deeper into midfield.

“I don’t think I see, as a coach, Vinicius playing as a midfielder.”

Vinicius wearing the captain’s armband is yet another step in his evolution as a leader at Real Madrid, reflecting his growing stature within the squad.
