Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is keeping a measured stance in the La Liga title race, refusing to look too far ahead despite his team temporarily overtaking Real Madrid at the top of the table.
Following Barcelona’s dominant 4-0 victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday, Flick’s side climbed to first place with 57 points, three ahead of Madrid.
However, when asked about Carlo Ancelotti’s recent assertion that the league title will be decided on the final matchday, the Barça boss avoided making any bold predictions.
“I don’t look that far in. I look at the next game. I’m happy that we’re in this position, so we’re going to focus on our next match,” Flick stated.
Despite their current lead, Flick’s reserved approach suggests he is wary of the challenge ahead, particularly with Real Madrid remaining a constant threat in the title race. Barcelona’s return to the top spot may put temporary pressure on Los Blancos, but with crucial fixtures still to come, Ancelotti’s men will have ample opportunities to reclaim their position and prove why they remain favourites for the championship.
