Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has acknowledged that Real Madrid talent Raul Asencio has done enough to be considered for a national team call-up.
Speaking about the possibility of Asencio representing La Roja, De la Fuente said:
“Raul Asencio? Like many others, he has of course earned the right to play for the national team.
“All good players have the doors to the national team open.”
With his impressive form, there is hardly a reason why Asencio shouldn’t be in contention for a spot in Spain’s squad.
After all, Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsí earned his first Spain call-up at just 17, following in the footsteps of Lamine Yamal and Gavi, who also received national team recognition as teenagers.
If Spain is willing to trust young talents from Barcelona, Asencio’s performances for Real Madrid certainly justify similar consideration.
