Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has backed Real Madrid to lift the Champions League trophy this season, emphasising the club’s elite individual talent and unrivaled history in Europe’s biggest competition.

“I think if you look at Real Madrid players, they have the best individual players, plus all the history of the Champions League,” Richards said. “I always just think, when they’re going into the game, they’ve always got an edge, you know. And we always talk about, how can they play together with Bellingham and Mbappe and Vinicius and Rodrygo, how’s it going to work?”

Despite doubts about how Madrid’s star-studded attack would gel, Richards believes Los Blancos have figured it out. “They’ve found a way. Mbappe against Man City… he’s just different,” he added.

While Richards acknowledges that other teams could challenge, he remains confident in his initial prediction. “I like the way PSG are performing, but I probably have to stick with my initial and say Real Madrid. But it could be anyone. I think PSG have got a great chance. Real Madrid, even Barcelona, what they’re doing with Raphinha and Yamal up front, Pedri in midfield. It’s gonna be interesting. I’m really enjoying the Champions League this year, and long may it continue.”

With Madrid’s winning DNA and a squad packed with world-class players, Richards’ prediction aligns with the expectations of many fans. The road to Wembley is heating up, and all eyes are on Los Blancos as they chase yet another European crown.
