Real Madrid conducted their final training session on Friday morning ahead of their La Liga showdown with Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. With the league title already clinched and second place mathematically secured, Carlo Ancelotti’s focus has shifted towards managing his squad carefully and avoiding any further injuries as the season winds down.
A number of senior players remain sidelined through injury, underlining the physical toll of a long campaign. Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, Antonio Rudiger and Eduardo Camavinga were all unavailable for training. In addition, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz and Fran Garcia also missed the session — although the club has not clarified whether their absence was precautionary or injury-related.
These absences mean Ancelotti may need to dig deep into his squad when selecting his starting eleven for the trip to Andalusia.
Lunin and Lucas Vazquez Back in Action
There was some good news on the injury front, however. Goalkeeper Andriy Lunin and veteran right-back Lucas Vazquez have both returned to training and are fit for selection. Their availability boosts Ancelotti’s options, particularly with Carvajal and Mendy unavailable in the full-back positions.
Tchouameni Returns from Suspension
Aurelien Tchouameni is also back in contention after serving a one-match suspension. His return will bring added stability to the midfield, especially with Eduardo Camavinga out.
Disciplinary Caution for Key Players
Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde, Dani Ceballos and Lucas Vazquez will need to tread carefully on Saturday, as they are all just one yellow card away from suspension.
Castilla Talents Step In
To fill the gaps left by injured first-team regulars, several Castilla players were drafted into training. Among them were Carlos Rodriguez, Sunico, Yusi, Jacobo Ramon, Sergio Mestre, Sostres, Daniel Yanez, Miguel Romera and Nico Sanchez. With Real Madrid’s injury list growing, some of these youngsters could be in line for a rare first-team appearance against Sevilla.
While the match has little bearing on the standings, it presents an opportunity for fringe players and young prospects to impress.
