Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso was pleased with his team’s performance following their 4-0 victory over Valencia.
Madrid were in their element at the Santiago Bernabéu against Valencia, and Alonso highlighted the energy, tactical discipline, and individual contributions that helped secure the victory.
On whether it was a perfect night, Alonso said: “Perfect? I don’t know, but things went well. In the second half, we managed the minutes because of Tuesday. We were dominating, had a favorable result, and had to be smart. Many things went well today, but we don’t want to relax. We want to approach every match with the necessary mental preparation, and today we did.”
Alonso particularly commented on the performance of Federico Valverde: “We all see his level, how complete he is. With the ball, he has the mindset of a midfielder, but physically he’s very strong.
“Since he started playing, his level has grown, he’s feeling the position more, and we know he’s a total, complete player. Due to our needs, he’s played there, and he’s done it well.”
