Goals from Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe sealed the three points for the Los Blancos.

While Bellingham admitted it was a team effort that secured the victory, he reserved special praise for five players – Eder Militao, Federico Valverde, Dani Carvajal, Huijsen and Carreras for their defensive input.

Speaking after the game, he stated: “We were really waiting for this game. We know we lost to them multiple times last season, so we were waiting for this and we needed to win.

“We are very happy, because last year we lost a lot against them. Today is a great day for all of us.This was a team win, a team effort. Defensively, Militao, Huijsen, Carreras, Fede, Carvajal, they were all so good.

“This day is for the fans too. As I said, for a long time, last year, we played poorly in these matches, in these big matches, and today is for everyone: the fans, the players, the staff, us, and everyone.”
