Real Madrid are away to Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League tonight.

Real Madrid and Manchester City played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu last week.

For this game at the Etihad Stadium, Carlo Ancelotti has decided to do things differently.

According to Edu Aguirre of El Chirinto TV, Carlo Ancelotti demanded that Real Madrid change the hotel the club initially booked for the squad for the Manchester City game over superstitious reasons.

Ancelotti wanted his squad to stay in a different hotel from the one they stayed in last year when Real Madrid were beaten 4-0 on their trip to Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final second leg.

“I am going to tell you why Ancelotti has already started winning the match against City,” Aguirre says.

“This is the hotel the team will stay at when they arrive in Manchester. Ancelotti is superstitious.

“In the last two seasons, Real Madrid came here and lost twice, while they slept in a hotel different from this one. Ancelotti has now changed hotels because he wants to break the curse.”
